Wind Symphony

The Southeastern Massachusetts Wind Symphony is a partnership between the Southeastern Massachusetts Arts Collaborative (SMARTS) and the Wheaton Music Department. The Wind Symphony is a large ensemble made up of Wheaton students and outstanding high school musicians and community players. Open to all Wheaton students who play woodwind, brass or percussion instruments, the ensemble rehearses weekly, presenting several concerts each year, both on and off campus. Repertoire includes standard wind ensemble and concert band literature.
Join Wind Symphony
Each semester, the Southeastern Massachusetts Wind Symphony rehearses Thursdays, from 7:00-9:00 pm in Watson Fine Arts, Room 222.
Community Members
Community members may register to join the group on the SMARTS Collaborative web site.
Student Members
Students interested in joining Wind Symphony should contact Earl Raney for further information.
Academic Credit
Wheaton students may elect to receive academic credit for participation in any large department ensemble. Ensembles award 2 credits for two semesters of participation. Students may register on WINDOW during official registration periods. All ensembles are listed under “Music Performance.” Registration in the second semester of the course is not automatic. Students should register for each semester of participation.
