Student-Teaching

The Wheaton Education Program accommodates student preferences regarding placements whenever possible. We are fortunate to have schools within walking distance of campus for students who do not have access to a car.

Elementary & Early Childhood

Elementary and Early Childhood Education student teachers have been placed in Norton, Taunton, North Attleboro, Plainville, and Foxborough.

Secondary

Secondary student teachers have been placed in Norton, Taunton, Attleboro, Foxborough, Hopkinton, Swansea, Bridewater-Raynham, and Boston.

District Collaboration

In addition to pre-practicum and practicum placements, the Wheaton College Education Department collaborates with public school districts in a number of ways.  Our Partnership Advisory Group, consisting of school district leaders, meets annually with the department.  Local administrators and teachers routinely visit our seminars in order to discuss assessment, special education, English language learners, the hiring process, and other topics. The department has invited teachers in partner districts to trainings on topics such as equitable pedagogy, gender-inclusive teacher, teaching English learners, and MTEL exams.

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations for Teacher Licensure change yearly as do education requirements and forms. It is therefore critical that students contact the appropriate Wheaton Education Department faculty advisor to obtain the most up-to-date information and education requirements documentation.
