About
Susanne Woods, provost and professor of English emerita, is a scholar of the early modern period. Since leaving her post as provost she has continued to do research and publish mainly on John Milton and Aemillia Lanyer, including Milton and the Poetics of Freedom (2014) and several recent articles on Lanyer’s biography and the fictional works (novels and plays) that have been written inspired by myths about Lanyer. Professor Woods is currently co-editing an upcoming new edition of Lanyer’s poetry for Oxford University Press.
