Teaching Interests

Lewis d’Avigdor received his PhD in history at Cornell University in 2023, where his work focused on the intersection of decolonization and histories of social science. His areas of research include Colonialism and Decolonization, Indigenous Studies, African American History, and the U.S in the World. His current book project, The Brokers of Culture: Decolonization and Modernization in Black Social Thought, investigates African American ideological and material investment in Africa in the midcentury. He has published on global Black Power and Indigenous movements and on participatory democracy. He previously worked as a lawyer in administrative law in Sydney, Australia.
