College Writing

Writing at Wheaton takes many forms. You may find yourself composing an essay about Dr. Seuss’s environmentalism one day and designing a web site about social justice organizations in the Bronx the next. You might write about the labors of Hercules or cilia in zebrafish hearts or the history of bicycle sharing in China. On some days you’ll use writing to discover what you think about the current political climate; on others you might use it to explain the electoral college or to persuade an audience that social media needs stricter federal regulations. And some days you’ll just write for the sake of writing.

Our hope is that you learn to use writing for a robust range of purposes, that you come to realize that everyone can write, and that you learn to be a more effective writer in the classroom and in the great, beautiful world beyond.
